Saint of the Day: ; Triumph of the Cross
Day

The cross, already a sign of one of the most terrible tortures, is for the Christian tree of life, the thalamus, the throne, the altar of the new covenant. Since Christ, the new Adam asleep on the cross, gave birth to the wondrous sacrament of the Church. The cross is the sign of the lordship of Christ over those that are configured in Baptism to him in the death and glory. In the tradition of the Fathers of the cross is the sign of the Son of Man will appear at the end of time. The feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, which is in the East compared to that of Easter, is connected with the dedication of the Constantinian basilica built on Golgotha \u200b\u200band the tomb of Christ. (Aug. Roma)

Martyrology: Day of glorification of the Holy Cross, who, the day after the dedication of the basilica built over the tomb of the Resurrection of Christ, is exalted and honored as a trophy of his victory and a sign that Easter will appear in the sky to announce the second coming of the Lord.

MEDITATION ...

From "sermon by Saint Andrew of Crete, bishop

( Disc. 10 on the exaltation of the Holy Cross; 97,1018-1019.1022-1023 PG) The cross
is the glory and exaltation of Christ

We celebrate the feast of the Holy Cross, through which they were driven back the darkness and light. We celebrate the feast of the Holy Cross, and so, with the Crucifix, we raised and sublimated too. In fact, separate us from the land of sin and ascend to the heights. is so great the wealth of the cross that its owner has a real treasure. And the name is rightly so, because in name and in fact is the most precious of all commodities. is it that resides in all of our salvation. It is the means and the way to return to its original state.
If in fact there was no cross, there would be no Christ crucified. If there were no cross, no life would have been affixed to the timber. If then life had not been nailed to the wood, flowed from his side would not be that source of immortality, blood and water, which purify the world. The sentence written for our sin was not torn apart, we would not have had the freedom, we could not enjoy the tree of life, heaven would not have been opened for us. If it were not for the cross, the death would not have been won, hell would not be stripped.
is therefore the cross a truly wonderful and incomparable resource because, through him, we have achieved great wealth, the more numerous the greater is the merit, however, due mostly to the miracles and Passion of the Christ. It is also valuable because the cross is both the scaffold and gallows of God trophy for his voluntary death on it. Trophy because it was won with the devil and the devil was defeated death. In addition, the power of hell was weakened, and so the cross has become the common salvation of the whole universe.
The cross is the glory of Christ, the exaltation of Christ. The cross is the cup and valuable asset which collects all the sufferings of Christ, is the complete summary of his passion. To convince you that the cross is the glory of Christ, hear what he says: "Now the Son of Man glorified and God is glorified in him, and glorify Him immediately" (Jn 13.31-32 ).
And again: "Glorify the Father, with the glory I had with You before the world was" (John 17:5). And again: "Father, glorify your name. He came a voice from heaven: I have glorified and will glorify it again "(Jn 12:28), indicating that glorification which was achieved then on the cross. Then the cross is also the exaltation of Christ, listen to what he says: When I am exalted, then I will draw all men to myself (cf. Jn 12:32). So you see that the cross is the glory and exaltation of Christ.
