Saint of the Day: ROSARY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

This memory of Marian devotional source is connected with the victory of Lepanto (1571), which arrested the great expansion of the Ottoman Empire. St. Pius V attributed to the historical event perghiera that the Christian people had sent in the form of the Virgin of the Rosary. (Aug. Roma)

Etymology: Maria = loved by God, from Egyptian, lady, Hebrew

Martyrology: Memory of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Rosary in this day with the prayer of the Rosary, or Marian crown invokes the protection of the holy Mother of God to meditate on the mysteries of Christ, under the guidance of her, which was associated in a special way to the Incarnation , Passion and Resurrection of the Son of God

MEDITATION ...

From a sermon by Saint Bernard, abbot

(Talk 'De aquaeductu' Opera Omnia, edit. Cisterc. 5 [1968] 282-283)
must ponder the mysteries of salvation

The Holy born of thee shall be called the Son of God (cf. Lk 1:35 ), a source of wisdom, Word of the Father in heaven high.
The Word, O Blessed Virgin, will become flesh through you, and he who says: "I am in the Father and the Father is in me" (Jn 10:38) also says: "I came from the Father and came into the world" (Jn 16:28).
So "In the beginning was the Word," that is already flowed to the source, but still only in itself, because the principle "The Word was with God" (Jn 1:1), her dwelt in unapproachable light. Then the Lord began to formulate a plan: I I have plans for welfare and not for evil (cf. Jer 29:11). But God's plan remained with him and we were not able to meet him. Indeed: Who knows the mind of the Lord and those who can be recommended? (Cf. Rom 11:24). So Thought of peace descended in the work of peace: "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us" (Jn 1:14); dwelt particularly in our hearts through faith. Became the object of our remembrance, our thoughts and our own imagination.
If he had not come among us, that idea could have been done by God to man, but to an idol, the result of imagination?
He would have been incomprehensible and inaccessible, invisible and utterly unimaginable. Instead he wanted to be included, wanted to be seen, wanted to be imagined. You'll say: Where and when it becomes visible to us? Precisely in the manger, in the lap of the Virgin, while preaching on the mountain, while spending the night in prayer, while hanging on the cross and bruised to death, or when, free among the dead, commanding hell, or even when resurrected on the third day and shows the apostles the wounds of the nails, as signs of victory, and, finally, while it rises to heaven before their eyes.
Is not it just, pious and holy ponder these mysteries? When my mind is thinking of them, you find God, he who hears you in every way God is my true wisdom is therefore stop on them in contemplation. It is to be enlightened spirits go back to fill their hearts the sweet memory of Christ.

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary of Pompeii
for the entire month of October

O Holy and Immaculate Virgin, Mother of my God, Queen of Light, powerful and full of love, which crowned seated on a throne of glory, erected by the piety of your children on the pagan land of Pompeii, You are the precursor to Aurora of the Sun God in the dark night of the evil that surrounds us. You are the Morning Star, beautiful, shining, the famous Star of Jacob, whose effulgence, spreading on earth, illuminating the universe, warms the heart more icy, and the dead in sin to grace raises. You are the Star of the Sea appeared in the Valley of Pompeii for the salvation of all. Let me call on you with this title so dear to you in the Valley of the Queen of the Rosary of Pompeii.

O holy Lady, Hope of the ancient Fathers, the glory of the Prophets, Apostles of Light, honor of the martyrs, the crown of the Virgin, joy of the saints, take me under the wings of your love and under the shadow of your protection. Have mercy on me that I have sinned. O Virgin full of grace, save me, save me. Enlighten my understanding; Inspire thoughts that I sing your praises and greetings to you all this month at your holy Rosary, as the angel Gabriel, when you said: Rejoice, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. And tell the same spirit and with the same tenderness of Elizabeth: Blessed art thou among women.

O Mother and Queen, as you love the Shrine of Pompeii, which lies to the glory of your Rosary, for love to bring your divine Son, Jesus Christ, that we wanted to share his pain on the ground and his triumphs in the sky, obtain for me from God the graces which I so much desire for me and all my brothers and sisters associated with your temple, if they are your glory and salvation to our souls ... (Here to wonder the thanks, with love and then recite a Salve Regina).
